Chelsea academy product Marcel Lavinier has joined Tottenham after being released by the Blues.

Marcel Lavinier has penned a deal with Tottenham Hotspurs’ youth side as the defender’s contract expired at Chelsea. The Blues decided not to extend his contract and the youngster finally secured a deadline day move to the North London club.

The 19-year-old was part of the quadruple-winning Chelsea youth side and went on to make 25 appearances for them. His display for the under-18s earned him a professional contract for two years back in 2018.Embed from Getty Images

This isn’t easy for me to say as this is the only club I’ve known for the past 12 years of my career. I want to thank all the staff & coaches at @chelseafc for their help and developing me into the player I am today. I’ve made friends who have turned to brothers and made some memories that I’ll never forget. It’s time for me to take the next step in my career and I wish everyone at Chelsea FC the very best in the future. You’ll always have a place in my heart💙
