Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Tuesday 6 October
Ziyech set for Morocco duty
Chelsea’s summer signing Hakim Ziyech is set to appear for Morocco this international break before he’s even slipped on a Blues shirt.
The 27-year-old has linked up with Morocco for international duty in Rabat for friendlies against Senegal and DR Congo.
The attacking midfielder is on the verge of fitness after sitting out Chelsea’s opening four Premier League matches, but he has begun training at Cobham in recent weeks.
“Ziyech is getting closer but not close enough to be on the bench,” Lampard said last Friday, although football.london was told that in a higher-stakes fixture the attacking midfielder could have been risked.
Eight players who could still leave Chelsea
Chelsea have splashed out this summer, and there’s still time for some transfer action despite the transfer window slamming shut.
The Netherlands, Russia and Portugal have all kept their transfer windows open for a little while longer, which means Blues boss Frank Lampard could yet shift some deadwood.
Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Danny Drinkwater, Malang Sarr, Nathan Baxter, Jake Clarke-Salter, Victor Moses and Martin van Ginkel are among those that could still make the move away from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will be desperate to raise some funds after their £200 million spending spree, and while they’re certainly unlikely to break even, they could still make a start.
Chelsea desperate to offload defenders
Chelsea could still offload Emerson Palmieri and Malang Sarr to Portugal, as the Iberian nation’s transfer window closes at midnight on Tuesday.
The Blues will be hoping they can cash in on the duo who have come close to moves away this summer before those deals collapsed.
Porto are in the market for a left-back following the departure of Alex Telles, while they could also invest in the future with Malang Sarr.
For some, deadline day has been and gone, but for Chelsea there’s still plenty of time left to strike crucial deals.
